Arthur Whalley 1672

In The name of God Amen The Second day of August in the yeare of our lord 1672 I. Arthur Whaly of Cosgrave in the county of Northampton gentleman being weake in body but of sound and perfect memory Blessed be God for it doe make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following Imprimis I bequeath my Soul to Almighty God my maker trusting through the meritts death and passion of his only sonne and my only Saviour and mediator Jesus Christ to have remission and pardon of all my sinnes and that after this Transitory life ended I shall enjoy eternall happiness in his everlasting Kingdom And my body I commend to the Earth from whence it came To be buried in the Parish Church of Cosgrave att the discretion of my Executor Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of Denshanger the summe of twenty shillings Item I give and bequeath unto Ursula Whaly my Loving wife of the summe of Twenty Four pounds a yeare soe long as she shall keep herself or widdow to be paid Six pounds off every Quarter within fourteen days after every Quarter day that is to say Ten ponds a year out of my lands in Denshanger and Fourteen pounds a yeare out of my lands in Cosgrave but if the said Ursula my wife should marry again Then my will is That Shee should have the Twenty pounds a yeare out of my lands in Denshanger and Cosgrave To Be paid in equal portions as aforesaid Item I give to my Grandsonne Jacob Whaly his sonne of Roger Whaly the sum of Tenn Shillings Item I give to my Grandsonne Edgar Barry the sonne of Edmund Barry the sum of Tenn Shillings Item I give to Honnor Barry daughter of Edmund Barry and Susanna his wife the sum of Tenn Shillings a peese Item I doe allowed for my Funeral Charges Five pounds Item I give unto Roger Whaly my sonne  All my houses and lands lying and being in Denshanger and Dassinham And all my houses and lands in Cosgrave and Fourthow All the rest of my goods and Chattels whatsoever not herein formerly bequeathed and given I give to the Said Roger Whaly my sonne whom I make and ordaine sole Executor of this my last will and Testament To pay off all my debts and performe my Legacies And to see my body decently brought to the ground Alsoe if my will is That these Legacies be paid within three months after my decease In witness whereof I have put to my hand and seale the day and yeare aforesaid Item my will is That the said Ursula my wife should have Four or Five Rooms att her dispose in the house which was my Cusen John Whaleys now in the occupation of John Clarke During her naturall life Arth: Whalley witnes John Pearson his marke Joseph Manley
