Thomas Scarth 1825

I bequeath to my son Thomas Scarthe and to Admiral Moorsom the sum of three hundred pounds and standing in my name in the a 5 Pr Cent Couts [Coutts] the Bank of England Stock in trust for my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret Scarthe the daughter of my deceased Son Isaac Lane Scarthe until she attain the age of twenty one years the interest of which after my decease the Trustees shall apply to her use and benefit and as it is my intention to add such further sums as I may be enabled to save from my income to the said sum of three hundred pounds in the a five per cent Coutts I also bequeath such further sums as may have been added to the said Trustee for my said Granddaughter until she attained the age of twenty one years and then to be paid to her my said Granddaughter Katherine Margaret Scarth Witness my hand this sixth day of March 1814 Thos Scarth Witness Clarissa Dodworth

I also bequeath to my Grand Daughter Katherine Margaret the daughter of my decease son Isaac Lane Scarth by further sum of two hundred pounds in the a five per cent making in the whole of five hundred pounds Feby 7th 1815 Thos Scarth

I also bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret Scarth the daughter of my deceased Son Isaac Lane Scarth the further sum of one hundred  pounds in the a five per cent Bank Stock making in the whole six hundred pounds August 26th 1815 Thos: Scarth

I also bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret Scarth a further sum of 100 pounds in a five per cent Bank Stock in the whole seven hundred pounds April 5th 1816 Thos Scarth

I also bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret Scarth a further sum of one hundred pounds in the five per cent Bank Stock making the whole eight hundred pounds June 30th 1817 Thos Scarth

I also bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret Scarth a further sum of two hundred pounds in the five per cent Bank Stock making the whole one thousand pounds Feby 10th 1818 Thos Scarth

I also bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret Scarth a further sum of two hundred pounds in the five per cent Bank Stock making the whole the sum of twelve hundred pounds November 23rd 1818 Thos Scarth

I also bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret Scarth a further sum of two hundred pounds in the five per cent Bank Stock making in the whole the sum of fourteen hundred pounds January 2nd 1819 Thos Scarth

Memorandum on 22nd Augt, 1821 I sold out for 5 Pr Bank Stock one thousand pounds which I gave to my Granddaughter Katherine on of her being married to Mr. Fred Frankland T Scarth £1000: 0: 0 this sum to be deducted from the fourteen hundred pounds before mentioned T Scarth

Memorandum on the thirty day of April 1823 my whole Stock in the 3 per cent reduced was fifteen hundred pounds and on the 3rd September 1823 I sold out 100 pounds in the three per cent reduced stock on account of my grandson Francis Scarth so that there remains at present in the three Pr cent Bank Stock in my name fourteen hundred pounds T Scarth Cosgrove September 1823

It is my wish that five hundred pounds of my three per cent Bank Stock should be given to my daughter Fanny Scarth for her own use and to be secured upon the part of the family T Scarth

Appeared Personally Maria Margaret Mansel (Wife of The Reverend Henry Longueville Mansel of Cosgrove in the County of Northampton Clerk) and Robert Ward of Albany Piccadilly in the County of Middlesex Esquire and made oath as follows that they knew and were well acquainted with Thomas Scarth formerly of Greenwich in the County of Kent and late of Cosgrove in the County of Northampton deceased for some time before and to the time of his death and also with his manner and character of handwriting and subscription having several times seen him write and also write and subscribe his name and having now with care and attention reviewed and perused the paper writing hereto annexed being or purporting to be the last Will and Testament with eleven Codicils of the said deceased the said Will beginning thus “I bequeath to my Son Thomas Scarth and to Admiral Moorsom the sum of tree hundred pounds” ending thus “and them to be paid to her my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret Scarth Witness my hand the sixth day of March 1814 “and thus subscribed “Thos Scarth” with the following addition “Witness Clarissa Dodsworth” the first Codicil beginning thus “I also bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine “ ending thus “making in the whole five hundred pounds” and thus subscribed “Thos Scarth” with the following date “Feby 7th n1815 the second Codicil beginning thus “I bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine” ending thus “making in the whole six hundred pounds” and thus subscribed “Thos Scarth” with the following date August 26th 1815” the third Codicil beginning thus “I bequeath to my Grand daughter Katherine Margaret Scarth” ending thus “making in the whole seven hundred pounds” and thus subscribed “Thos Scarth” with the following date “April 5th 1816” the fourth Codicil beginning thus “I also bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine” ending thus “making in the whole eight hundred pounds and thus subscribed “Thos Scarth” with the following date “June 30th 1817” the fifth Codicil beginning thus “I also bequeath my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret” ending thus” making in the whole one thousand pounds” and ending thus subscribed “Thos Scarth” with the following date “Feby 10 1818” the sixth Codicil beginning thus “I also bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret” ending thus “making the whole the sum of twelve hundred pounds” and thus subscribed “Thos Scarth” with the following date November 23rd 1818” the seventh Codicil beginning thus “ I also bequeath to my Granddaughter Katherine Margaret” ending thus “making in the whole the sum of fourteen hundred pounds” and thus subscribed “Thos Scarth” with the following date January 2nd 1819” the eighth Codicil beginning thus “Memorandum on the 22nd Augt 1821 I sold out the 5 per cent Bank Stock” ending thus “on her being married to Mr Fred Frankland” and thus subscribed “T Scarth” with the following addition “£1000 this um to be deducted from the fourteen hundred pounds before mentioned” and thus subscribed “T Scarth” the ninth Codicil beginning thus “Memorandum on the thirty day of April 1823 my whole Stock in the 3 per cent reduced “ ending thus “in my name fourteen hundred pounds” and thus subscribed T Scarth” with the following addition “Cosgrove September 1823” the tenth Codicil beginning thus “on the 30th of September 1824 bought in the three per cent reduced” ending thus fifteen hundred pounds” and thus subscribed T Scarth” “the eleventh Codicil beginning thus “Cosgrove August 3rd 1824 It is my wish that five hundred pounds of my three pr cent Bank Stock” ending thus “upon the female part of the family” and thus subscribed “T Scarth” they those deponents say they do verily and in their consciences believe the whole senes? and contents of the said paper writing and the several subscriptions thereto (except the subscription “Clarissa Dodworth” to be of the proper handwriting of the said bequeathed Maria Marg Mansel Robt Ward on the 31st day of January 1825 the said Maria Margaret Mansel was duly sworn to the truth of this Affidavit before me C Coote Surr Present Jno Rob Langden Not Pub on the 3rd day of February 1825 the said Robert Ward was duly sworn to the truth of this Affidavit before me C Coote Surr Pst Robt Edwd Pownall Not Pub

On the 21st June 1825 Admon (with the reill and eleventh Codicil annexed) of the Goods Chattels and Credits of Thomas Scarth formerly of Greenwich in the County of Kent and late of Cosgrove in the County of Northampton Widower deceased was granted to Thomas Scarth Esquire one of the natural and lawful Children of the said deceased having been first sworn duly to administer No Executor or Residuary Legatee being named in the said Will
