Probably the two earliest motorists in this neighbourhood were the Rev G M Capell, of Passenham and Mr “Puffer” Atkinson of Cosgrove.
Mr. Atkinson’s car was a Benz, improved locally by Mr. Hamilton, who subsequently set up an important garage at Old Stratford crossroads. But whether home-made or not, all observers agreed that cars were extremely noisy, and created cloud of dust whenever they came honk-honking along the highway. And joy was high when one or the other of these cars broke down and faithful old Dobbin was hitched in front to tow it ingloriously home.
