Property Levies 1720 -1729

The Cosgrove Church levy is a contribution or due as a tax, especially for the support of the church's disbursments

In this section we have rationalised spelling to enable you to read names and places easily. We have done this only where spelling was grossly deficient in the original longhand, and where we are completely certain of the modern equivalent. For instance, where “Perry” is given as a place name, we have recorded it as “Potterspury”. The surname “Bryer” is recorded with its most common spelling, although in the original it may sometimes appear as “Briar”, “Briair” and so on.

A Levy made ye 11 day of march 1720 by the Churchwardens and other Inhabitants of Cosgrave after ye Rate of four pence halfpeny pound Rent for the Repairing ye Parish Church  and other Layings out of the said officers
