Property Levies 1706 -1709

The Cosgrove Church levy is a contribution or due as a tax, especially for the support of the church's disbursments.

In this section we have rationalised spelling to enable you to read names and places easily. We have done this only where spelling was grossly deficient in the original longhand, and where we are completely certain of the modern equivalent. For instance, where “Perry” is given as a place name, we have recorded it as “Potterspury”. The surname “Bryer” is recorded with its most common spelling, although in the original it may sometimes appear as “Briar”, “Briair” and so on.

A Leivie made the 22nd day of August 1706 by the Churchwardens and other Inhabitance of Cosgrave after the rate of three pence pound part for repairing of ye parish Church and other Layings out of ye said officers
